The Conservatives are a sly and power hungry political entity — moralistic — they care nothing about Canada's diversity or economic well being. The Conservatives have surprised everyone in their ability to climb the ladder over the last decade and are experts at taking advantage of everything they can, especially apathy.

The Conservatives were able to take a minority government situation and through manipulation fueled by their megalomania kept it running for the longest time such a government has lasted in Canadian history (between the return of writs and dissolution). Although theoretically a minority of seats should had kept them constrained, Harper and his Conservative caucus continued their extreme right-winged agenda without much interference from the opposition or criticism from the media.

During their term in office, the Conservatives have:

• Increased the executive power of the Prime Minister's Office
• Appointed Justices of the Peace determined to forward their religious, anti-sexual agenda
• Passed laws that deny public funding specifically to art that is critical of their religious or anti-sexual views
• Ignored and minimized the rights of gays, women and other minorities
• Taken steps in the direction of re-criminalizing abortion
• Politicized funding for science, reducing funding for research that could run counter to their judeo-christian belief system, such as findings critical of neonatal male circumcision
• Raised the age of sexual consent which did not end sexual abuse in Canada as promised, but does threaten children's access to sex education, contraceptives and condoms, and reinforces the view that sex is intrinsically dangerous and bad
• They used illegal bribes to manipulate opposition members of parliament
• Called an election in contravention of their own election act

Now they want to

• Put the same 14-year-olds they were so zealous to protect from sex away in prisons
• End cost-saving and effective criminal code sentencing alternatives such as house-arrest

• Continue to cut funding to arts critical of their party's objectives

• Use legal threats to silence people critical of them including shutting down this website

During the election campaign

• Hid their extreme right-winged candidates from the media to fool the public into seeing them as a tamer and more tolerant party than they clearly are
• Made false allegations of antisemitism against an opposition candidates in a district where she was likely to win against them, resulting in her lose of party support — something they only began to make an issue of after the deadline to replace her

At the moment, no opposition party is strong enough to defeat the Conservatives. Only we, the electorate can block them by strategically voting against them! Every election since their inception, the Reform — Alliance — Conservatives have gained seats influence and power. Its up to each of us to do everything we can to prevent the Conservatives from getting seats. Next election, donate money, volunteer time, and vote for the candidate most likely to win against the Conservative.
